Today I’m reminiscing about the New York cuisine. Where do I start?
Number 3. DELI v DINER.
You can dine in or out up or downtown, the choice is yours and what choice there is.
One of my favourite things about NYC is the fact it’s a marvellous melting pot, a foodie fondue of multi cultural cuisines.
Thanks to generations of immigrants from diverse cultures arriving from across the globe and turning this bustling, 24/7 city into a vibrant, multicultural mezze, a tastebud popping paradise.
If you’re craving is for salty or sweet, you’ll find a deli and diner on every corner.
Gone are the days of finding fast food for a buck or two, a pretzel from a vending cart is likely to set you back 5 dollars and a cup of coffee the same. Chances are some of the prices were inflated over the Christmas and New Year period as the footfall increased over the holidays.
The thing is we budgeted for the festive increase on food to make sure we could each afford to sample the city’s delights.
Jen promised me Maine Lobster on my birthday and every bite delivered a mouthwatering delight. Pizza slices the size of our heads were available around the clock with sugary treats like doughnuts and caramelised pecans tempting us on every street corner.
Poke bowls, fruit cups and fresh salads were equally as appetising and making sure we off set the calories with the number of steps we took walking from block to block, we indulged and enjoyed every meal the city had to offer.
Sadly the streets were also home to many going hungry and so we made sure we donated a few dollars a day to those less fortunate than ourselves so that they too might enjoy a hot meal and warm drink.
